keyboard problems with acer laptop

I've aspire 3003.The Acer Laptop Keyboard also offers blue amounts on some secrets ie. U can also be 4. I can also be 5.After I type the U and that i - I'm getting 4 and 5 rather.Have looked in charge panel for Toshiba Laptop Keyboard, regional settigs etc. all looks ok.Could it be a control button Laptop Keyboard itself I have to press to power it down??Thank you for any help.Allison
